So the other day when I was shooting PawCurious I had the distinct honor to work with Mellisa Street, makeup artist. Having a makeup artist was requested by the host that we have someone there to deal with things like that, and since the last time I put makeup on it was probably for Halloween when I was 14, I deferred to the expert.

Now you might wonder, where the hell do you go to find a top notch makeup artist here in San Diego? Well I met Mellisa at a SD Filmmakers meetup here in San Diego, she came to give a talk on makeup in the motion picture business, and a background on how she got into it herself.

Hearing her talk was interesting, but hearing that she cut her teeth interning for Stan Winston and worked on movies such as Terminator, Aliens, and all other types of geek fantasy fodder, it made me keep her card for when I start on The Zombie Defense Training Center series, and as fate would have it, PawCurious.

So, I can’t say enough nice things about her, and I can’t wait to work on the Zombie project with her, but if fate so chooses I want to see if I can work with her on her own makeup show, she has an amazing resume in the industry and maybe the geek in me would just like to spend a little more time hearing about the movies that made such an impression on me as a teenager.
